A Pivotal Moment for the Arts in Boulder

The City of Boulder is experiencing a powerful shift in how arts and culture are valued, and our leaders are recognizing creativity as a key driver of economic and community vitality. The City’s new Boulder Arts Blueprint, a long-range plan for arts and culture policy and investment, and new Culture and Economic Development office are elevating arts, culture, and creativity as a focus for Boulder’s future. The Sundance Film Festival is moving to Boulder, bringing international attention, visitors, and investment to our community.

For the first time in Boulder’s history, long-term, dedicated City funding is available through the Arts, Culture & Heritage Tax (Ballot Measure 2A), a 2023 community campaign initiated and led by Create Boulder. The future promises a bigger vision for arts and culture in Boulder.

Create Boulder: Why Our Work Matters

Even with this new momentum, many artists and arts and culture organizations are struggling with lack of affordability, space needs, and uneven recovery from the pandemic. Create Boulder is helping to close these gaps and enhance Boulder’s creative vitality as we collaborate to develop a thriving arts ecosystem.
